Famagusta
In 1974 , the Northern Cyprus`s Turkish military occupation of Famagusta has 6,000 inhabitants and lots of holiday makers and North Cyprus`s important city of Famagusta is main administrative town of the district , now. Some important historic buildings are decorated with unusual 1 8th century porcelain plates as the twin aisled vaulted church , Virgin Mary. There are lots of church in Famagusta , also.
Ayia Napa
It is a kind of tourist centre which is a small fishing village in orjinally.That interesting mediaeval Northern Cyprus monastery surrounded by a high wall all around and dedicated to out Lady of the Forests stands in the middle of the village . Partially of the monastery is under the ground . The ancient sycamore tree Which is in front of the south gate, is thought to be 600 years old.
Dherinia
That village is the other important area of Northern Cyprus, Famagusta. It has three different churhes. The small ones had been done in 17th century church of Ayios Georghios , the other one church dedicated to the Virgin Mary with excellent 17th century icons and in the 15th century Ayia Marina church . And also when you look throug around from this village , you will see the ‘ghost’ city of Northern Cyprus`s Famagusta , one of the most popular holiday resort in Cyprus. All its inhabitants are now refugees.
Sotira
This village`s the east entrance is Ayios Mamas`s the partially ruined church which has been built around the 12th century, and then restored in the 16th century. Approximately , 1 1/2 km to the west, is the cruciform church of 16th century by Panayia Khordajotissa whose dome had been rebuilt and also the Ayios Georghios church .
Liopetri
For the Virgin Mary , there is a churc which had been built in 16th century and the other church by the name of Ayios Andronikos in the city of Famagusta, Northern Cyprus . It has octagonal dome and murals` remains which are still be distinguised. And also at Liopetri , the basket making conventional continues.
Potamos Liopetriou
A picturesque view of fishing refuge by the remains of a Venetian watch-tower nearby. The French poet with the name of Arthur Rimbaud , in the 1880s , worked in this area .
